Wow October already and Hollywood Halloween is almost upon us, always a crazy time. It’s been a fun summer, worked on some cool projects, attended some great events and even managed to take a few trips.
New Theatrical Reel
Always a tough job putting a new reel together, do I use this old footage? Can I track down the footage from this new film, am I allowed to show it and will the producers even release and supply it. How long, how short, should I lean on funny or serious material ? You get to ask yourself all these fun questions and many more. Well with the help of the talented and very patient Misha Crosby at Real Reels I’m happy to present my latest reel which you can view here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGY-AU9A-34&index=2&list=UUwhowocy7MZXstUzUS4C_IQ feel free to leave positive comments and any negative ones feel free to keep them to yourself ha ha.
A New York Minute
Speaking of talented people I did a photo shoot with uber talented director and photographer James Van Alden for some promo shots for a coming movie we are doing together. We ended up with so many varied shots that almost told a story we thought it would be a fun moment in time to do just that. With the help of TJ at the Chop Shop (who did an amazing job) talk a walk through the mean streets of New York with us from this wise guys perspective, you can view it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0TPCOZZUSc&list=UUwhowocy7MZXstUzUS4C_IQ
Another talented friend of mine artist and producer John Barge 3rd Has produced some more concept art for The Bouncer and is currently slaving away on a graphic novel of the same name, stay posted for more info but here you can see his talent in various stages bringing his vision to life using, pens, pencils, coffee, wine and a sharpie no less, you can see more of his work here http://www.johnbarge3.com/ .
I’m proud to say I’m a member and supporter of B.A.F.T.A I attended some fantastic screenings and Q and A’s over the summer with some very interesting guests like Robert Downey Junior, Robert Duval, Tim Robbins and Adam Sandler to name but a few. The Judge was a highlight for me with Duval very much holding court with I think Downey Jnr cheering him on and enjoying it as much as us the audience.
I attended the BAFTA LA tea party at the residence of the British Consul General in Hancock Park. Always a refined affair. Enjoyed some outstanding cocktails and always good to get back to some English comfort food so the bangers and mash and the fish and chips went down a treat.
Some Press – The Canning Town News
Speaking of home a friend sent me a fun write up of me in a great cockney local newspaper. Today the Canning Town News tomorrow perhaps Esquire or GQ? Ha ha. You can read the article here http://www.canningtownlife.com/2014/05/famous-from-canning-town-john-campbell-mac/
Thank you BMW
Figured it was time to get a new car and was really taken care of by the guys at Pacific BMW. Went in there just to window shop and left with a nice new 328, great job guys but have to say I’m really enjoying the car and their after sales service has been outstanding.
Fun in the Sun
Took a few fun trips through the summer, went over to Catalina Island for the first time for Stephanie’s birthday. Great place and just a short ferry ride from Long Beach. Had a great time in Santa Barbara at El Encanto awesome place can’t recommend it enough. Was also really looked after by the great folks at the Ritz Carlton in the Palm Desert, just two hours out of LA Palm Springs is always a good option.
Got over to Las Vegas for a friends birthday, Mandy The Terrible was 21 again (don’t ask me how she got the name) and my friend Roland had a launch of his alcohol brand Rekorderlig cider on the roof of The Cosmopolitan. Lets just say a fun filled time was had by all. Finished the evening in The Bank with UFC legend Rashid Evans, top night. Not forgetting bumping into my favorite stalker/new friend Caroline x.
I promised I wouldn’t mention Mandy bursting into tears over a pair of shoes oops ha ha. A great night was had by all at the Cirque De Solei Michael Jackson show One. Really a feast for the senses a must go see if you're an MJ fan in Vegas. Speaking of MJ, when we came out we went into a celebrity signed memorabilia and pop art shop after and Mandy fell in love with a really cool signed pic of Michael Jackson. Talk about a small world the manager of the store Paul did us a cracking deal on the piece and turns out he used to live a stones throw from my house in London and his girlfriend is from a stones throw from my house in LA, now that’s cosmic.
