Halloween what a crazy time in Hollywood, the Americans really go all out with the fancy dress costumes, A+ for effort. I went to a great party with the wifey as Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit. Organized by Brits in LA it’s fair to say a good time was had by all, too much fun.
The Brittania Awards
I went to the B.A.F.T.A L.A Brittania Awards at the Beverly Hilton and as usual it was a first class event. To make it even better I had some close friends fly in from the UK and New York who loved every minute. Always a good time and caught up with a few familiar faces there even managed to have a chat with Idris Elba and congratulate Sir Ben Kingsley and Katherine Bigalow on their awards. Always fun showing friends around had a couple of fun nights in the Skye Bar and Chateau Marmont and went to my first Lakers game, they won in the final play of the game, I’ll definitely be going back.
Winner Takes All
A few years ago Chico and I made a film called Winner Takes All, it did really well on the film festival circuit as well as with BAFTA. We wrote the whole thing in rhyming couplets and narrated it in rap. We were aiming at Desperado meets Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrels and was literally poetry in motion. Recently lots of people have been asking me to post a link so here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkNBoGLpWSY, I hope it gives you a smile we had a lot of fun making it.
I did a new interview for Reap magazine (posted in the press section) called The Brit, The Boxer and The Lost Boy. Did it over lunch in The Roosevelt hotel and had fun with the Journalist Bridget. We chatted a little about my beginnings and Stephanies pet bunny Chunkee Munkee and even a little acting ha ha. You can read the interview here http://reapmediazine.com/index.php/article-list/50-the-brit-the-boxer-the-lost-boy-3
Chunky Gets an Agent
So off the back of he’s recent Petco commercial outing Chunky Monkey gets himself a Hollywood agent. I know only in America you couldn’t make it up. So he’s very excited about he’s new representation or at least my wife is.
R.I.P Nelson Mandela and Paul Walker
I saw an early screening of the Nelson Mandela film ‘Mandela Long Walk to Freedom’. Really a well made movie with great performances from Idris Elba and Naomei Harris and a great Q and A afterwards with them and the producers. Ironic that just a week or so after the world lost the great man himself. Speaking of irony Hollywood also lost Paul Walker, most famous for the Fast and Furious movies in a terrible car crash. I can’t say I have ever worked with him or even met him but I’m a big fan of anyone who uses their fame for good and gives back. Paul founded his own charity Reach Out Worldwide that provided disaster relief and were amongst first responders in many disasters, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
So with thanksgiving just gone and Christmas around the corner I’m very grateful for my friends and family everyday, this weeks quote “A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are for what you have.’
